Try To Avoid Hurricanes While Cruising

My family and I went on a cruise a couple of weeks ago. This was my first cruise as was my brothers and my grandmother, my parents have been on only one cruise before this one. We left port at Charleston, S.C. and were to sail to Bermuda and be there half a day on Tuesday all day Wednesday and half a day Thursday.
Well for one thing, Sunday, the night we left port, was very rough. So rough that I woke up at about 1:00 am thinking that the ship was going to sink and we all would have to abandon ship. Without saying you could understand that I did not sleep very well that night. And the rest on Monday was very rough. It was hard to walk on the boat.

These were taken on Tuesday, I think. The weather calmed down enough for us to take these.

We didn't make it to Bermuda until 5:00pm on Tuesday. The weather was fine then. We made port at St. George.

That night we got off the boat a had supper at a restaurant right were we made port. I think it was called "The White Horse”. It was good. I tried escargot for the first time. I liked it.

I know. Our mom made fun of us for looking so happy while we were in stocks. We were just that happy to be off the ship.

We walked around St. George for about two hours and then went back on the ship because it was getting dark and all the shops were closing.

The next day, Wednesday, at 7:00 am they left St. George and went to Hamilton. We made port at about 9:00 am. That is one gorgeous place.

Nice yacht,, huh?

We got to ride a horse and buggy

We had to get back on the ship at 4:30 pm that day and leave Bermuda because of hurricane Noel.
So we had about 8 hours on Bermuda soil. Yeah, I was disappointed, but at least I got to see some of Bermuda.
They way back was rough, not as bad as the trip to Bermuda though.
Next time I hope we plan a cruise when hurricane season is over.
